I recently visited the majestic redwood forests along the Northern California coast after 8 years. It was another reminder for me that I am fortunate to be living within driving distance from some of the most stunning old-growth forests in the world. The redwood forests are carefully preserved with super tall, gigantic trees that are hundreds of years old, some even over a thousand years old. They have seen generations and generations of people and they quietly remind us how minuscule and temporary our problems are. They continue to remain unaffected by things like elections, pandemics and fuel prices.
The mystique of these timeless coastal forests draws you in to explore, to celebrate and to get inspired. When the conditions are right, you can find a magical interplay of light beams and fog that can evoke a mystic feeling.
Here are some photographs showing light breaking through the redwood forest during my recent trip. I hope to share another blog post soon with photos of the redwoods in fog.
During this trip, I also had a lot of fun photographing the coastline along the California/Oregon border. I will share those photographs soon.
